The scariest movie in my life

Hellow everyone, I finally installed Internet in my new apt. Now, I can post on time.

I want to write about the scariest movie that I have seen before.

The name of movie is 'The shining' directed and produced by Stanley Kubrick who was born in 1928 in New York. I’m not a big fan of horror movie but I saw it because of the director. He is one of my favorite and genius director. This movie made in 1980 and was based on the novel ‘Shining’ written by Stephen King. Jack Nicholson was the main character ‘Jack’ and he gave a great performance as a mad man.

A writer, Jack, get a job as a caretaker at Overlook hotel, which is in Colorado Mountain. That hotel need caretaker because during winter they can’t run hotel because of the strong snowstorm. Only Jack’ family have to stay in the hotel. The hotel manager said repulsive story to Jack. Few years ago, before caretaker, Grady killed his wife and twin daughter and killed himself. The dead body found next spring. At that moment he doesn’t care about that story.
The family is locked in the hotel by a snowstorm. They try to adapt to the new surroundings. His son, Danny, has psychic abilities that can see past and future and he start to see a twin sister. At the same time a supernatural force gradually influences Jack. He is getting mad! His son figures it out and tries to escape from Jack with his mother. But Jack already loses his mind and tries to kill his family.

This film described bottomless isolation in the huge place and psychological pressure. Kubrick use new shooting techniques called “Steady cam.” This filming technique makes screen calm, orderly and beautiful. Although screen is beautiful, we feel strong paranoid and music make us tired because of the strong tension. It is better to focus on production techniques rather than content. Kubrick very well knows what situation make people feel a sensation of fear.

  1. Hi Yuri,

You're very brave to watch this movie! It is famous for being one of the scariest movies ever. Have you ever read Stephen King's books? They are also famous for being very frightening.

  2. Do you enjoy horor movies? Actually, most of my female friends are crazy about horor movies, especially the Korean and Thailand horor movies. though they are screaming all the time while they watch the movies, they still want to see them. i don't know why .......
however, i agree with your opinion that ,most times, it is not the content in the movie is horrible but the effect of the sound and the pictures make the movie frightening.

  3. Yuri, you're really brave... I scared even first time I saw the picture. Once I watched just first 15 minutes of Stephen King's movie called Red Rose. And I couldn't sleep one week. Also it is very good for you to understand the movie techniques :)
